Item Description

Demantoid Garnets are some of the most sought after and valuable Garnets in the world for their excellent color and high refractive index. The original Demantoid stones were found along the Telyanskaya River in the Ural Mountains of Russia, and there are only a handful of places in the world where fine stones are found. This gem is from the famed Jeffrey Mine in Quebec, which is best known for its excellent orange Grossular Garnets, and Demantoids are rare from this locality. This stone is an attractive "Oval Brilliant" cut gem with very slight inclusions and a pleasing green color. You almost never see faceted Demantoids from this locality, so if you're a fan of worldwide Garnets or gems from Canada, don't pass this one up.
