Item Description

A classic plate of DEEP orange-red Andradite Garnets from rare finds at the Wessels Mine. The Garnets, which are rare for this mine, have superb luster and range up to about 7 mm across. The crystals glow with color when strongly backlit. They are dodecahedral in habit with notable stepped faces on the surface. Ex Charlie Key personal collection. Charlie is arguably the most sucessful dealer of the second half of the 20th century, along with being the namesake for TWO mineral species (Keyite and Ludlockite).
