Item Description
This is a solid mass of 3-dimensional garnet weighing about 5 pounds (2100 grams). It is composed of hundreds of glassy and translucent, brown colored andradite garnets with gemmy red flashes to them. The dodecahedral crystals reach 1.2 cm in length.The sculptural quality of the specimen combined with the pristine, high luster crystals makes this one of the richest and best large garnet specimens I have seen from this locality. Formerly in the collection of the Houston Museum (sold in a deaccession sale logn ago), this is a spectacular large Russian specimen. Valued $3000-3500
