Item Description

A very rarely seen example of the classic Andradite Garnets from the lesser known La Prieta Mine. This piece is filled with very sharp, well-formed, lustrous, deep reddish-black colored dodecahedra of Andradite measuring up to 3 mm to 4 mm with minor cream colored Feldspar on matrix. Many of the crystals on the display side are pristine. If you collect worldwide Garnets or minerals of Mexico, don't miss out on this hard to find old time specimen. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#2882). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
