Item Description

One of the great old Italian classics! Anglesites from Monteponi are some of the most impressive examples of the species from any European locality. The best crystals are incredibly eye-catching. This piece host several sharp, gemmy, well-formed, prismatic, glassy Anglesite crystals measuring up to 6 mm sitting on massive silvery-grey Galena matrix. Very fun to view up close! A lovely and classic specimen of these desirable, old-time and now hard to find specimens from this famous mine on the island of Sardinia. The piece comes with a classic label from noted Czech/Slovak mineral expert, Josef Vajdak of Pequa Rare Minerals, which states the piece was collected in the early 1900s, which immediately increases the value. Additionally there are a couple of old labels from the collections of A. Berger of Vienna and "BURMINCO" of Monrovia, California which state the piece is from the collection of Dr. Lechner of Vienna.
