Anglesite on Galena (classic material)

Anglesite is a fairly well-known lead sulfate species, which forms as a secondary result of the breakdown of Galena. Most of the Anglesites you'll find around the world are often white/colorless, but the most desirable examples are the superb yellow crystals from Touissit, Morocco. When it comes to the finest crystals of Anglesite in the world, Touissit is the premier locality for the species. Even when you compare the best Anglesites from preeminent localities like Tsumeb, they are still not at the same level as what Touissit has produced. This showy and three-dimensional specimen features a predominant, vivid yellow colored, gemmy, sharp, lustrous orthorhombic crystal of Anglesite measuring 3.4 cm aesthetically flaring off of the contrasting silvery-grey Galena matrix. Many other additional yellow Anglesites can be seen on the specimen, giving a vivid rich blast of color. The main Anglesite crystal is complete all the way around, but it has some interrupted growth where it was removed from the pocket wall. With some backlighting, the crystals shows good internal gemminess in area. It's quite difficult to find such well-formed, attractive crystals of Anglesite in this size range on matrix from Touissit anymore these days, and there hasn't been anything this good from any other world locality. This piece was originally priced at $5,500 in the inventory making this a great opportunity to pick up a fine specimen of this iconic material for a great bargain.
