Item Description

Swiss Anhydrites are beloved by Alpine collectors as they are some of the most colorful, gemmy and elusive examples of the species extant. This piece is a good reference specimen of the famous material from the Gotthard Tunnel featuring light purple colored, gemmy, lustrous prismatic crystals of Anhydrite sitting on gneiss matrix. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#10554). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
