Item Description

A cool old time Anorthite specimen with EXCELLENT pedigree! Several pinkish colored prismatic crystals of Anorthite measuring up to 1.5 cm are intermixed with green Augite or an Amphibole species. The piece is more of a reference specimen as nearly all of crystals are contacted, but the value in this specimen lies in the labels. The piece is accompanied by a hand-written label from Hermann Kraft (specimen #936) along with a beautiful old time systematic label that states the piece was collected prior to 1900! The Kraft label has a note on the back that states it was obtained from "Frau Pohl" (Erica Pohl?) in Berlin. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#12732). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
