Apatite on Mica (ex. Steve Smale Coll.)

From the collection of Steve Smale - a large, fancy combo of BIG, shiny hexagons of muscovite with large crystals of deep green apatite. One apatite in particular, 4 cm in length, appears almost as if it has been just stuck to the side of the cluster! The muscovites have a slight coppery color to them, which adds to the aesthetics of this specimen. these were a major discovery in the early 90s, very popular with collectors of the time and now probably largely forgotten because they disappeared and no more came out to keep notoriety up. Valued $750 by Smale in exchange to me.
