Item Description
This locality is best known for its world-class blue Topaz crystals along with excellent purple Hydroxylherderites, but this piece is a rarely seen example of Apatite (presumably Fluorapatite). As a matter of fact, this might be the FIRST piece of Apatite that we've had to offer from this locality. Many sharp, well-formed, highly lustrous, hexagonal pink crystal of Apatite measuring up to about 5-6 mm are nestled in little vugs lined with white, lustrous bladed Albite and minor greenish to greenish-brown Elbaite Tourmaline. The label says that there is associated Muscovite on the piece, but I think she meant to write Albite. A cool reference specimen from this world-famous locality. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#9483). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020. See the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record ( https://www.mineralogicalrecor... ), and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017.
