Apophyllite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

Beautiful, isolated, sharp, lustrous, gemmy, colorless / white crystals of Apophyllite measuring up to 1.7 cm sit beautifully on the underlying matrix. A few blades of Stilbite with minor white Laumontite can be seen on the piece as well. Most of the Apophyllites are completely damag fee, and show such a lovely "wet" luster with a bit of zoning as the centers of the crystals are a bit more opaque than the outer edges, so you get a white and colorless "banding" appearance. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Velt" November-December 2017).
