Item Description

A superb and sculptural large apophyllite specimen in a basalt vug from Lonavala. Intergrown tabular, tetragonal apophyllite prisms, to 4.5 cm, dramatically fill a large vug. The translcuent, colorless crystals have both glassy and pearlescent faces, adding character. The vug is lined with tiny heulandite blades, which are fantastically accented with tiny sparkly apophyllites and eye-popping orange oxides. This impressive, very colorful and exceptional large combinationn specimen was formerly in the collection of Dr. Ed David, with his unique specimen number on the back. Ed was Science Advisor to President Nixon and assembled several world-class collections. He passed away in 2017. Read his biography at: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/labels.asp?colid=1041. Valued at $2000-3000 for quality, provenance and size.
