Item Description

These Vietnamese Aquas are some of the richest blue gem quality Beryls you will see from any locality. They started coming out around a decade ago, and the limited supply has kept them from becoming abundant on the market, but they are certainly sought after by collectors. The combination of rich color (even in smaller sized crystals), great luster and wonderful internal gemminess puts them amongst the finest quality Aquamarine crystals in the world in my opinion. This beautiful small miniature / toenail specimen is a rich blue colored compressed hexagonal prism that is complete all around. At first glance one might think it's half a crystal, but it's not. It must have grown against the pocket wall or another mineral that was later dissolved away, but it has small prism faces on the reverse side. I can see a pinacoid on each end, so it's definitely doubly-terminated, which is not common for the material in my experience. One of the best aspects of the piece is the fact that it's not dull or etched, but has SHARP and SMOOTH lustrous faces, and it's not etched. The center of the crystal is nearly eye-clean and considering the thickness, it's amazingly dark in color. Great quality all around. Attention Beryl collectors or gem crystal collectors, don't miss out on this beautiful crystal from this limited discovery in Vietnam.
