Item Description

The Pingwu Beryl Mine is a world-famous locality that has produced some of the finest examples of Scheelite, Cassiterite and Aquamarine ever found. This beautiful small cabinet display specimen is loaded with fine quality, gemmy, gorgeous blue color, thick, tabular, hexagaonl crystals of Aquamarine measuring up to 4.3 cm across with minor associated silvery blades of Muscovite mica and white Microcline feldpsar. While Aquamarine is not rare on a worldwide level, this particular habit of crystals is incredibly hard to find in nature, as nearly all Aquas are elongated prisms and not thick, tabular "discs". When you rotate the specimen in your hands you will notice that it is crystallized not only on all sides, but underneath as well! At some point during its formation, the specimen became detached from the pocket wall, but finished crystallizing on the bottom where it healed ("re-healed"), itself. I go so far as to say the piece is a 100% complete "floater", as I honestly can't find any real point of attachment or actual damage anywhere. All of the small contacted spots seem to be completely re-crystallized after looking the piece over thoroughly. One of my favorite aspects of the Aquamarine crystals themselves is that the modifiying pyramidal faces are incredibly brilliant, smooth and broad. There are small sections inside some of the crystals are that WATER CLEAR for a nice touch. This piece would make a great addition to any suite of gem crystals, Chinese minerals or worldwide Beryls. Priced at $5,000 in the inventory.
