Item Description

Aquamarine is one of the most beloved gem crystal minerals in the world. Every worldwide collection these days features multiple Aquamarine crystals from places like Brazil, Namibia and Pakistan. When it comes to Aquamarine, Pakistan is the most productive country for specimens in the modern age of mineral collecting. Some of the very finest quality Aquamarine specimens come from the various pegmatites in the Pakistan high mountains, especially the pieces from the Shigar Valley. This area has produced some of the most exciting Aquamarine specimens in the last 30 years, and certainly some of the best matrix Aquas ever found.. This specimen is an excellent quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, GEMMY beautiful soft blue color prismatic crystal of Aquamarine with no matrix. There is a small rough spot on the termination, but overall the piece is in great condition all around. The piece is actually doubly-terminated as the base of the crystal recrystallized ("re-healed") after detaching from the pocket wall. You can see tiny crystallized faces on the bottom of the crystal if you look closely (or with a loupe). There is actually a second smaller Aqua prism on the back, and a couple tiny gem crystals near the base. The upper portion of the main crystal is nearly transparent / water clear. I love the fact that there are first order pyramidal modifications on the termination, and even some thin first order modifications running along the prism. A few small black Schorl crystals can be seen suspended inside the Aqua for a great touch. A very attractive gem crystal specimen from this most prestigious of Pakistani pegmatite localities. The piece weighs 58.92 grams. Priced at $6,500 in the inventory.
