Item Description

A classic, beautiful, very gemmy, lustrous, pale greenish-blue blue color, etched crystal of Aquamarine from the famous Jaqueto Mine. The piece is doubly-terminated and crystallized all the way around, making it a "floater" with no point of attachment. The crystal is virtually WATER CLEAR through the top half, and could certainly yield a beautiful faceted stone (though I would never condone the butchering of such a fine crystal). Small areas of tan colored pocket clay are included inside the crystal for a nice touch. I love the almost rounded "bullet"-shaped termination on this one, a classic shape for Jaquetô Mine pieces. The crystal was mined in the early 1970s, and comes from the collection of Richard Kosnar, who had a strong presence in Brazil bringing back a large quantity of pegmatite minerals during that time. The crystal would make a great addition to any gem crystal suite, especially since gem Aquas from Brazil are truly difficult to find on the market these days. Specimen weight is 47.4 carats.
