Aquamarine on Quartz (ex Allen V. Heyl Collection)

Item Description

An interesting Aquamarine specimen from an obscure locality in Brazil. A rich blue color, very thin prismatic gemmy crystal of Aquamarine Beryl sits in / on a shard of semi "smoky" Quartz. The Aqua crystal measures 4.3 cm long. It should be noted that matrix crystals of Beryl from Brazil at not terribly common, and this particular piece has amazingly deep color for such a thin crystal. The piece is from the Allen V. Heyl Collection, who was a friend of a the Kosnar family and for whom the species Aheylite was named.
