Item Description

A striking and very sculptural aragonite and sulfur combination from the famous and historic mines at Agrigento. Sharp, tiny, off-white aragonite crystals have dramatically, richly and preferentially coated a mounded cluster of unusual, tabular, mostly parallel-growth, gemmy canary-yellow sulfur crystals. The isolated, blocky, 2.5 cm, later generation sulfur crystal is a super accent. This is a stunning 360-degree combination with only a bit of periphery wear. Certainly acceptable in the context of this outstanding and unusual looking combination. BRIGHT pink aragonite fluroescence. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 6214 and received as a gift in 1970. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017).
