An aesthetic dense cluster of sharply terminated, lustrous, translucent, two-toned pseudo-hexagonal tarnowitzite crystals artisticly wraps around below the crest of this large impressive mounded combination from Tsumeb. The prisms reach 2.0 cm. Tarnowitzite is the rare Pb-rich variety of aragonite, with the finest examples coming from famed Tsumeb. The hefty ore matrix is richly peppered with contrasting green malachite. Many tiny gem, glassy elongated anglesite crystals on the matrix are a super accessory. Creamy white fluorescence. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection. Bob is a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. The former dealer label has a $650 price. Most tarnowitzite specimens of this quality were recovered well before 1960, so this is an rich and excellent old-time combination, even with the noted basal periphery wear.
