Item Description

A fine, botryoidal specimen of native arsenic, built up in several layers of thick growth. From a large but highly unusual find of pure arsenic in this historic mine, found in summer of 2013. Although we have seen many specimens from this mine, including fine orpiment, I had not previously seen pure native arsenic of such quality from this mine in Peru, even though it is known for arsenic minerals! Moreover, this is of the quality to rival the old German specimens of native arsenic, which have traditionally sold for far higher prices (specimens like this would be valued in the thousands of dollars from the old German locales). Donated by The Arkenstone for the MINDAT benefit auction
