Item Description

The Huanggang Mine is one of the most prolific localities in China, producing some of the most iconic and eye-catching mineral specimens from any Chinese mine over the last 10+ years. Some of the finest and most attractive specimens of Arsenopyrite/Löllingite have come from this locality. This piece is a wonderful and highly aesthetic display specimen of Arsenopyrite featuring superb, lustrous, very sharp, metallic, bright silvery colored "cockscomb"-shaped groups of Arsenopyrite measuring up to 2.9 cm aesthetically intergrown and dramatically flaring of the underlying matrix. It's such a three-dimensional and eye-catching piece, better than the vast majority I've seen in terms of quality and displayability. No damage that I can find anywhere on the piece. A very impressive and desirable example of these soon to be classic specimens from this prolific locality. From the collection of Dr. Barratt Phillips.
