Item Description

Going back to the late 1970's - early 1980's, there were a handful of very good quality Arsenopyrite specimens available from the San Jose Mine, but they are long gone, and rarely seen on the market. This is one of the better specimens of this material that we've had to offer in the auctions in a few years. It is just covered with superb, sharp, bright, metallic, grey, prismatic Arsenopyrite crystals that are aesthetically on matrix. The largest individual crystal measures about 5 mm long. Most of the Arsenos are pristine, but a few small imperfections can be seen here and there. This piece was mined in 1981 and is a great example of this old material from one of the most famous mines in the Bolivian tin belt. If you collect sulfides or Bolivian minerals, do not miss out on getting your hands on one of these rare an unusual beauties from this famous historic mine.
