Item Description

Arthurite is a very rare hydrated copper iron arsenate first discovered at Hingston Down Consols in Cornwall. The species was named in 1964 after Sir Arthur Edward Ian Montagu Russell and Arthur William Gerald Kingsbury, both of whom where mineralogists and collectors in England. This piece is a great example of the old material featuring beautiful lime green crusts of Arthurite on host rock matrix. If you collect secondary minerals or Cornish material, do not pass up this attractive, colorful specimen! Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#11886). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
