A RARE URBAN SPECIMEN! Snow-white radial sprays of acicular artinite crystals to about 1.3 cm are scattered on the snow-white hydromagnesite crust on the serpentine matrix on this showy, excellent and very rich specimen from the classic Staten Island locale. Artinite is an uncommon hydrated magnesium carbonate. This piece may have been collected in the 1960s or much earlier. Very few seen for sale recently. Ex Dennis Mullane Collection (1950s-1970s).
