A RARE URBAN COMBINATION SPECIMEN! Snow-white radial sprays of acicular artinite crystals to about 1.0 cm densely cover most of the serpentine matrix on this showy, excellent and very rich specimen from the classic Staten Island locale now covered by a city. The discrete, off to the side, and clustered much smaller balls are the hydromagnesite, which consist of tiny acicular crystals densely packed together. This piece may have been collected in the 1960s or much earlier. Very few seen for sale recently. Ex Robert Fender Collection (1960s-1970s? and probably self-collected).
