Item Description

Augelite is an uncommon aluminum phosphate, and through the years, has typically been found in white / colorless crystals from famous localities like the Champion Mine in California and various places in Bolivia. Even the well-known Augelites from Rapid Creek in Canada show typically only a slight amount of green color. When the Peruvian Augelites hit the market in the early 2000s, they set a new standard for the species in terms of quality and color! The best of these specimens show an INTENSE green hue, that glows even without any backlighting. This large miniature / small cabinet sized specimen features a superb, very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy, "wedge"-shaped monoclinic crystal of glowing chrome green colored Augelite measuring 1.5 cm long associated with a few smaller Augelites on GEM quality, colorless, "needle" Quatz crystals on matrix. The main Augelite has a tiny imperfection along the top edge, but it's difficult to see without looking at it very closely. To find a crystal of this size with such stellar color on matrix was unfathomable before these Peruvian specimens were discovered. A beautiful and showy display specimen of this fine quality and colorful material. Priced in the inventory at $950.
