Item Description

Mineral specimens are in general rare from the old historic iron mines around Arendal (lage 1500s to 1975 - MINDAT). Sharp, well-formed augite crystals, a Pyroxene Group species, are RARE. Sharp, brownish-green crystals, to 1.0 cm, cover the sculptural thin matrix plate. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 5976 and acquired from Al McGuinness in the late 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). Rare, OLD-TIME, rich and excellent augite with the circular paper label on the bottom.
