Item Description

A classic and excellent combination plate from this famed French locale, the Type Locality for both Axinite and Epidote. Classic, gemmy, clove-brown axinite blades with razor-sharp edges, to 1.5 cm, are richly and attractively clustered and scattered on the undulating sculptural matrix. Isolated, gemmy, terminated, olive-green epidote prisms, to 1.5 cm, are nicely scattered about. The front and back are accented with chlorite-included and clear quartz crystals. The back has a striking 1.7 x 1.5 cm quartz "tower" as a super accent. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 1616 and acquired from prominent East Coast dealer, John Albanese, in 1960. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). This is a wonderful old-time Alpine combination classic.
