Item Description

Classic, gemmy, clove-brown axinite crystals with razor edges are dramatically and aesthetically scattered on the sculptural matrix on this very fine old-time classic from the famed Type Locality. The crystals reach 1.3 cm. Overall, the crystals are in excellent shape, with just a modest bit of bruising or contacting, which is certainly acceptable considering the age of the piece. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 8530 and acquired from the Lidstrom's in 1978 at the Tucson Show. It comes with a faded old label. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017). The crystal isolation on this fine piece is remarkable for the locale.
