Item Description

Axinite-(Mn) is RARE from the renowned Little Three Mine, famous for outstanding San Diego County blue topaz crystals. Axinite and schorl combinations are extremely rare, and this is an exceptionally aesthetic and rich 360-degree combination miniature. A 1.5 cm, sharp, highly lustrous, striated schorl crystal with a coated termination is dramatically framed on three sides with densely intergrown lustrous brown axinite blades, to 2.2 cm and a few tiny schorl needles. A SUPER desirable bonus on the back side is a classic 5 mm orange SPESSARTINE GARNET. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 11502 and acquired Cal Graeber at the 1988 Tucson Show. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). A VERY RARE and highly desirable combination from the Little Three Mine. A MUST for the locality or species collector.
