From Tsumeb, this is dramatic and aesthetic small cabinet piece is dominated by a larger parallel grouping of elongate Azurites with numerous other crystals in random orientation that completes the cluster. These bladed, elongate prismatic Azurite crystals have the classic deep azure blue color and sharp terminations all exhibiting brilliant luster! It really does have dramatic look that is atypical for Tsumeb Azurites, along with the great luster...and crystals that are doubly terminated. Crystals groups like this that are both showy and with little damage were always rare and, even though there was a recent flood of Azurite from Mexico on the modern market, specimens like this from this iconic locality have held their own because they are so unique and different. This is one of those very fine old styles that has not been matched by anything modern. The largest crystal across the top is doubly terminated, 5.8 cm in length and 1.2 cm across! All of the crystals on this attractive piece have superb luster and all of them are slightly translucent with some backlighting. The crystal size, arrangement and balance, combined with the nice color is just beautiful. Old material, dating to the 1960s or earlier.
