Item Description

Milpillas, a surprise in the last year, has stunned the mineral world with brilliantly lustrous Tsumeb-quality azurite specimens. However, most of them are small pieces, or large pieces with small crystals upon them. This specimen is an unusual habit for the finds which have trickled out since Denver of 2007, and which were written up recently in the Mineralogical Record. The crystal size and chisel-like habit, and the arrangement on matrix, strongly suggest Tsumeb material from the heyday at that now defunct mine. This is a large and dramtic piece that if from Tsumeb, would surely go for over $5000. The Mexican material offers comparable quality at a much lesser price today, but still this should be worth $2500 at a fair price, I would think, for the size and overall showiness and quality.
