Item Description

A striking and beautiful two-sided specimen from recent finds in China. The vuggy front of the piece is filled with scintillating navy-blue azurite crystals, most having shocking "electric-blue" gemminess! Surrounding the vug is royal-blue botryoidal azurite next to banded, velvet malachite. The azurite on the back is remarkably different, looking like surreal pools and streams of variably colored botryoidal azurite adjacent to starkly contrasting iron oxide knobs The side views reveal the dramatic banded nature of the azurite and malachite. The quality of the azurite is outstanding. A bit of periphery wear and one sawed side are noted, but are very modest detractions to this amazing specimen. Chinese azurites of this quality compare very favorably with Bisbee material. High praise. Valued at $300-400.
