Item Description

Please note: This specimen was labeled as coming from the Bluebird Mine, not the Blackbird, which is a simple typo as far as we can tell. This is not from the La Sal District, the most famous Azurite producing area in Utah. Scintillating, electric midnight blue colored micro crystals of Azurite forming small "rosettes" can be seen covering the underlying matrix, with just a bit of associated Malachite. This is the first specimen of Azurite we've seen from this locality in San Juan County, Utah. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
