Item Description

Azurite is one of the most popular secondary copper minerals in the world. Some of the finest examples have been found at places like Tsumeb, Touissit and Bisbee, but the finest contemporary specimens are those from the famed Milpillas Mine. This is an attractive specimen of Azurite from this prestigious locality featuring fine quality, sharp, rather lustrous, deep blue, thick prismatic crystals of Azurite measuring up to 3.2 cm with a minor amount of white Dickite clay. With backlighting, you can see that the Azurite crystals actually show a tiny bit of vibrant gemminess on the edges. The two smaller crystals are pristine and beautiful to view up close, but the larger crystal (which is doubly-terminated) has a ding on the termination, so it's not pristine. You can see how showy it is from the video, and the quality is superb for the species. We're told that the oxidized zone is finished, so there will not be any more of these specimens from Milpillas again. Valued at $1,750. Ex Brian Kosnar specimen.
