Item Description

The famous Milpillas Mine has been the source of some of the finest crystallized Azurite specimens ever found. No specimens of note have come out in a few years, as the oxidized zone is mined through, and it's nearly certain that no more significant specimens will be found again. This excellent miniature sized specimen features superb quality, highly lustrous, razor-sharp, deep midnight blue colored crystals of Azurite measuring up to 1.0 cm long associated with minor Malachite and very little matrix. I love the highly reflective faces and textbook crystallization on these beautiful Azurite crystals, and look great up close. There are a few nicks on some of the Azurites, so the piece is not 100% pristine, but it's still a very good specimen and would make a fine addition to any collection of Azurites, secondary ore minerals or Mexican minerals. These specimens are becoming hard to find on the market, and are certainly increasing in value, now that the oxidized zone at Milpillas is completely mined out. Priced in our inventory at $1,200.
