Item Description

The Blue Grotto Mine (Prospect) in Utah is famous for producing some of the most attractive Azurite "roses" for any locality outside of Arizona. These are some of the most well-known minerals from any locality in Utah for their excellent size, color, luster and quality. This piece is a particularly attractive and fine quality "rose" featuring notably sharp, lustrous, well-formed thick bladed crystals of Azurite measuring up to 7 mm long forming a nearly complete "floater" specimen. The back of the piece has a couple small points of attachment, so you can't call it a "floater", but it's still excellent quality. Perhaps the most impressive feature is the fact that the crystals are deep blue color, and not a light faded blue that you can sometimes see in other Azurite "roses". No real damage of note on the display side, and a fantastic miniature of these classic and now very hard to find Azurites. For reference, this locality was mined out in the 1980s, so no more will be found like this. Priced in our inventory at $1,300.
