Item Description

In the modern age of mineral collecting, the Milpillas Mine stands out as producing some of the finest quality crystallized specimens of Azurite ever found. Unfortunately we've been told that that the oxidized zone is mined out, and there will be no more of these world-class specimens on the market. This attractive cabinet piece hosts a rich group of fantastic, intense blue colored Azurite crystals measuring up to 2.1 cm long with excellent luster and razor-sharp faces on host rock matrix. Minor velvety forest green Malachite can be seen in a few spots underneath the Azurite. The majority of the crystals are pristine, but there are a few contacts. With that said, a few imperfections are forgivable for the overall quality and displayability of the piece. The piece displays wonderfully as you can see from the photos. If you missed out on getting your hands on one of these outstanding specimens when they were more readily available, don't pass this one up as it's big, showy and good quality. This piece was mined in 2009, and we had it priced in the inventory at $4,000.
