Item Description

A lesser seen small cabinet sized specimen from an undisclosed locality in San Luis Potosi, Mexico. This is one of the very few specimens of Azurite that we've had to offer from SLP. You can see excellent quality, very sharp, highly lustrous, thin "sword"-shaped crystals of Azurite measuring up to 7 mm are sitting among soft mint green colored Malachite on oxidized matrix. The Azurite crystals are so thin that many of them are virtually water clear, and glow with an electric indigo hue when backlit. Very good quality and condition overall, with only a tiny bit of damage. A great piece to add to any Azurite suite, secondary ore collection or a collection of minerals from Mexico or specifically San Luis Potosi. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#785). Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
