Item Description

A RARE, colorful and most unusual azurite in granite specimen from Pakistan. Vivid cornflower-blue azurite orbs are embedded on both sides of the granite matrix. These come from the K2 area, the world's second tallest mountain. Trade names include: K2 Granite; K2 Jasper; and raindrop azurite. The quartz, albite and minor mica granite matrix has been confirmed by x-ray diffraction (MINDAT). The azurite is a secondary oxidation product after the granite solidified from the parent melt. A most interesting rock and lapidary material and SELDOM on the market. 97 grams mass.
