Item Description

A rather large, robust azurite crystal from the new finds at Milpillas, or rather form finds of earlier this year that haven't been coming out since. The crystal has electric blue color at the edges when backlit but otherwise is a deep azure blue as with the best from Tsumeb. It is lustrous, and sharply formed. The contrast with the green malachite at the base makes it more appealing that most of these larger azurites from here, in this size anyhow, tend to be either broken off or simply devoid of contrasting malachite association. Valued $2-3k. If from Tsumeb, a historic premium would be added...so these are, I feel, a real value for the modern collector who wants a world class azurite without paying the premium that a similar-looking Tsumeb piece would normally command.
