Azurite on Malachite (stalactitic) - circa 1929

This lively colored specimen features glistening aggregates of Malachite clusters of sparkling Azurite crystals on a VERY unusual 3-dimensional matrix; and was apparently collected in 1929 as indicated by the Paul Brand label that accompanies the piece from the Pohl collection. There is almost an equal amount of divergent radial groups of medium to bright green Malachite to 1 cm displaying color zoning, augmented by copious clusters of of of brilliant Azurite with 2 to 3 mm crystals in clusters that wind through the contrasting green Malachite. A nicely composed and contrasting old style of Azurite-Malachite from this classic locality! Ex. Paul Brand and Dr. Erika Pohl-Stroher. Gorgeous, it is really a highly unusual Tsumeb piece and draws the eye in a display, for the shape and dimensionality as well as the sheer sparkle.
