Item Description

A beautiful thumbnail specimen from this lesser known locality in eastern Chihuahua (near the border with Texas). We occassionally see a few of these specimens pop up on the market every year, but they are still quite hard to find. The classic combination of the sharp, lustrous, midnight blue Azurite crystals sitting on the prismatic Quartz crystals is iconic, and honestly a fairly rare combo in nature, as Azurite and Quartz are not typically found together. There is a layer of a soft blue color copper-bearing mineral coating the Quartz, a signature characteristic of the material. The largest Azurite crystal meaures 5 mm. Great quality all around, and a very showy and rarely seen thumbnail of this beautiful material. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#8280). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics. She nearly lived 100 years from April 1920 - March 2020.
