Item Description

A lovely older specimen of the classic material from Ajo featuring sharp, lustrous, rich blue colored crystals of Azurite measuring up to 1.3 cm long, which are starting to pseudomorph into chatoyant green Malachite on matrix. Some of the Azurites have formed "rosette"-shaped group, a classic habit for the species from the New Cornelia Mine. There are a handful of localities in Arizona which have produced world-class Azurites, and the best specimens from Ajo are certainly in the upper tier. This piece comes with an old label from Schneider's Rocks & Minerals in Poway, California, along with a collector label that states it was part of the R. D. Bates collection.
