Gem azurite crystals are rare, from any location, and have really only come out of a few pockets that we know of, from several locations over a long time. These are classics from the 1970s, rarely seen in any collection today - so rare now that people forget that Mexico once produced gem crystals of this species. The copper mines in Zacatecas were so productive, and yet so little was saved as they were mined for ore. This style was once valued very highly among collectors, and even small specimens were hard to come by. This large display piece features DOZENS of gem crystals to 1.6 cm, and you need only room lighting to see the transparency. Backlit even minimally, they are spectacular jewels of glowing blue light. This is a very rare, relatively large specimen that is nearly pristine - all major crystals are intact. It is 360 and eye catching. This comes from the important collection of Mike Groben, which was sold off some years back. Valued $2500-plus, you will probably never see another example of this material of this magnitude.
