Item Description

This is a hard to find specimen from this lesser known locality in Arizona. This piece came to us from the collection of Willard Wulff. There were several small pieces in a flat with a single sheet of paper that said they were from the "Indiana Mine, 5 mi. south from Silverbell Mine, Pima Co., Arizona". We have made a photocopy of that piece of paper to be included with this specimen. The paper goes on to say that the piece was acquired from (possibly mined by) Jesus Urias (Chewy / Chuy) and Ted Granillo. It's a micro specimen to be sure, but under magnification, one can see amazingly brilliant electric blue bladed crystals of Azurite with very minor green Malachite. As mentioned, this specimen comes from the collection of Willard W. Wulff (1904-1998) of Colorado Springs, Colorado, a prominent figure and collector of Colorado minerals. Wulff was one of the founding members of the Colorado Springs Mineralogical Society in 1936. You can read Willard's bio on the Mineralogical Record website here ( http://www.minrec.org/labels.asp?colid=1528 ).
