Item Description

Bisbee is known world-wide for its great suite of copper minerals, Azurite among them. This small miniature is sharp and sparkling, with its rich, deep color and good luster. The tabular form is modified by numerous, terraced steps which create an attractive and interesting pillow-like appearance. It is a superb example of the classic "Bisbee Roses" from the turn of the 1900s, a really particular style and look. Angle it just right, and you could just about turn this into a "boxbuster" thumbnail although it is more properly a small miniature size. Previously in the noted Gene Wright collection (he specialized in azurite). There are numerous references to Jack and his collection in print, but perhaps a good tour of the collection and its history will help give perspective on just how good, and important, this collection is: https://www.irocks.com/the-jack-halpern-collection
