Item Description

A very nice example of the famous Azurite "suns" from the Malbunka Copper Mine in Australia. These attractive and distinctive specimens are well known for their interesting form, best associated with this locality. This piece features a pair of semi-layered, rich blue colored, compressed "rosettes" of Azurite on host rock matrix. The Azurites were forced to grow in a laterally compressed, radiating manner in kaolinite, and have to be carefully prepared so that they don't "pop" off the matrix. I don't think there is another Azurite locality in the world produces them quite like this.
