Item Description

A sculptural, rich and hefty azurite with malachite small cabinet from this well-known, old, extinct copper mine started in 1845. The aesthetically intergrown nodules consist of sparkly navy-blue azurite crystals complemented by royal-blue azurite and pods of contrasting malachite. The navy-blue azurite glows with "electric blue" color under bright light! Specimens of this combination richness and quality are seldom on the market. First worked intermittently as an underground and open pit mine until 1877. A new open pit started in 1969 and the mine closed in 1981 (MINDAT). Choice material from the Rob Sielecki Collection.
