Item Description

Beautiful electric-blue, grape-like balls of azurite blades cover the undulating contrasting limonite matrix on this sculptural and very uncommon example from a one-time late 1997 find in Brazil at this obscure locale. The tightly intergrown balls reach about 1.0 cm and a few blades are partially altered to malachite, a nice contrast. A striking BONUS on the back has the balls nearly entirely pseudomorphed by the malachite. One usually thinks of Brazil for outstanding pegmatite species. Secondary copper oxides of azurite and malachite are RARE and this is a very fine and rich example. Valued at $1000-1250. Seldom on the market today. Ex David Burgess Collection
